Tour of Bright December 2014

The Mornington Cycling Club was well represented at the Tour of Bright with 14 cyclists in all grades.

The Tour of Bright lived up to its reputation as the toughest bike race of the Victorian season.

With most riders heading to the mountains on Thursday to compete in the first stage on Friday, the weather looked promising with reports of 30+ on Thursday, however reports that Friday was going to be grim was a worrying sign of things to come.

Friday Afternoon Stage 1. The individual time trial of 17kms, the weather turned with thunder storms greeting the riders towards the end of the time trial.

Saturday Stage 2, which is commonly known as the Gaps Loop consisting approx 93kms and 1500m of climbing, the weather conditions were not kind today.

Sunday Stage 3 – Bright to Mt Hotham was cut short due to the deteriorating weather, rain, fog and poor visibility up the huge mountains did nothing to dampen the MCC spirit.
